More Social Media Concerns

Have you ever heard the statement “nothing gets deleted from the internet”? Well that statement might actually be a fact. In 2001 the “Wayback Machine” was created which enables users to see archived versions of webpages across time. This means that information on the internet that has currently been “deleted” from a particular webpage can be retrieved by this internet tool; even entire webpages that have been deleted can be retrieved. The creators of this device have stated that its purpose it to promote the “universal access to all knowledge”.
Regarding litigation claims, this writer believes it is only a matter of time until law firms and insurance companies begin utilizing this devise to dredge up old information in an attempt to damage and defeat a person’s claim during a pending lawsuit.
We have repeatedly advised of the dangers of social media and the importance of posting responsibly on social media and the internet alike. As technology continues to develop, it is becoming more and more important to always be responsible while posting on the internet, because it really may never be deleted.
